Let Your Joy
Lead You to Healing
What are your joys? Gardening, traveling, singing, playing the piano? Mine include yoga, dancing, and music. Yoga is not only a joy for me; it is one of my self-healing practices, along with meditation and play. Spending time each day in one, if not more, of our joys is where healing often occurs.

"CRADLE YOGA"
Studio
This unique yoga practice uses the support of a wall to protect and stabilize our backs, as we gently lengthen and strengthen the entire body, targeting all major muscle groups. We begin with neck and shoulder stretches, slowly releasing tension in this problem area. Focusing on our breath helps our minds to stay in the present moment and free of unnecessary worry.
Next, we elongate our torso and align the spine, the body’s lifeline, vitally important in developing muscle memory and maintaining our physical and mental health.
Then we prop our legs up onto the wall, with our upper bodies lying on a mat. This simple inversion is extremely relaxing and beneficial in reducing leg joint and back pain, alleviating varicose veins and eliminating stress by reversing blood flow in our bodies. It increases oxygen in our brains, activating the pituitary gland, which improves sleep and memory function…plus it feels wonderful. This position also opens up our hips, which are often very tight, especially in women, creating more freedom of movement in both our upper and lower bodies.
Laughter is an important part of Wall Yoga (actually, in all yoga classes I facilitate), for it releases calming brain chemicals, which have been proven to fight off various diseases and infections, control appetite and decrease anxiety and depression.
In addition to toning our core and upper body, Wall Yoga focuses on our lower bodies -- most importantly hips, knees, calves and feet -- relieving pain associated with ailments like arthritis, fibromyalgia and sciatica.
Please bring a bottle of water to class.
